SAP Hires Former Microsoft VP To Be Its New CTO

Quentin Clark, a former corporate vice president at Microsoft, has been named the new chief technology officer of German software company SAP.
Clark had been a 20-year Microsoft veteran before exiting the company last month, according to his LinkedIn profile. He held several roles in the company, including general manager for the Windows Future Storage (WinFS) product, which Microsoft effectively abandoned as a standalone project in 2006.
More recently, he played a key role in Microsoft's big data efforts as the corporate vice president of the Data Platform group. In this role, Clark oversaw the development and delivery of multiple SQL Server and Azure database products, as well as the release of Power BI for Office 365.
In a reorg this summer spearheaded by Scott Guthrie, executive vice president of cloud and enterprise at Microsoft, Clark was named corporate vice president of the Business Solutions unit, which includes the Dynamics CRM and ERP products. He held the position for five months before leaving Microsoft in October, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Clark's new role as CTO of SAP will take effect on Nov. 10, the company said in its announcement on Thursday. Clark will be based in Palo Alto, Calif., and report to SAP executive board member Bernd Leukert.
