D&H Distributing Opens Canadian Subsidiary

D&H Distributing, the Harrisburg, Pa.-based computer distributor focused on SMB resellers, on Monday opened a subsidiary in Canada.

D&H hopes to add 1,000 new resellers, dealers and retail customers with the move into Canada, a wholesale IT distribution market that the company says is worth $6.2 billion.

"This is an exciting development for D&H, since it marks our transition to a larger, multi-national organization. Our main goal is to extend the D&H culture of reseller- and dealer-focused programs and best-in-class service to a fresh geography," D&H President Gary Brothers said in a statement.

The wholly-owned subsidiary is called D&H Canada ULC and is run by General Manager Greg Tobin, who has executive experience with Ingram Micro Canada and Motorola Canada.

D&H describes its distribution as having a "solid focus on the SMB reseller, with additional emphasis on custom system builders, consumer electronics dealers and the digital home market, education, small office/home office, independent retailers and etailers, and the custom installer market."

The 89-year-old company expanded from a regional distributor to a national distributor in 1990. The move into Canada, with headquarter and a warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario, brings D&H to six locations. In addition to the U.S. headquarters in Harrisburg and the Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, the company has U.S. warehouses in Jacksonville, Fla., Chicago, Dallas and Fresno, Calif.
