Quest Turns Spotlight on Active Directory

Quest Software Inc. expanded the range of tools for managing Windows 2000 Active Directory environments this week with a diagnostic module for Microsoft's directory service.

Spotlight on Active Directory adds to a line of Microsoft application diagnostic tools that Quest unveiled earlier in the year.

The product, which installs on a desktop or server, is designed to let administrators quickly troubleshoot performance and availability problems within Active Directory.

Pre-configured alarms and help wizards are designed to assist administrators in quickly diagnosing and resolving problems with the Active Directory, which is new technology released with Windows 2000.

A real-time, graphical interface also helps administrators see the effect of administrative changes on the performance of Active Directory. Other features include replication troubleshooting and multiple Domain Controller support.

Spotlight on AD is available immediately for $1,495 for a single-CPU system.

Other products in Quest's Spotlight family include modules for Windows, Exchange and SQL Server. Quest also sells Spotlight diagnostic products for Oracle's database and e-business suite, IBM DB2, Web servers and EMC's Symmetrix storage cabinets.
