Altiris Acquires Compaq Remote Control Software

Altiris Inc., a network management software provider, purchased the Carbon Copy remote control technology from Compaq Computer Corp.
Utah-based Altiris will retain current Carbon Copy employees open a sales and development office in Boston.
Carbon Copy will be maintained as a separate product, but will also be integrated into Altiris' product line.
Carbon Copy allows a user on one PC to control and transfer files on another PC across a network, via dial-up or through a direct connection. Altiris intends to combine the remote control capability with the management functionality of its Altiris eXpress 5 product.
