Emulex Teams with EMC, Microsoft at N+I

Emulex Corp., a maker of Fibre Channel products and technology, teamed with Microsoft Corp. and EMC Corp. to demonstrate a SAN at the NetWorld + Interop 2000 conference in Las Vegas.

The Fibre Channel SAN demonstration was used during the opening keynote presentation by Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) chairman Bill Gates and featured four Emulex (www.emulex.com) LP8000 Fibre Channel host bus adapters running under Windows 2000 attached to an EMC (www.emc.com) Symmetrix Enterprise Storage system. The configuration was optimized to maximize the 100 MB/s Fibre Channel bandwidth for video content delivery.

Emulex' 64-bit PCI LP8000 provides full fabric support using F_Port and FL_Port connections, high data integrity, full-duplex operation, data buffering to support up to 100km cabling, and support for all fibre channel topologies and service classes 2 and 3. The LP8000 is supported by a wide range of software, incuding support for SCSI, IP, as well as multi-protocol (SCSI & IP) operation. The LP8000 supports Windows NT and 2000 as well as Solaris, AIX, UnixWare and NetWare. - Isaac Slepner
