Shoreline Develops Voice IP Software

Shoreline Communications Inc. released a new version of its enterprise-class IP voice communications system, Shoreline IP Voice Communications System 2.0. Based on the company's Distributed Internet Voice Architecture (DIVA) software, the new system delivers enterprise-class scalability, support for remote teleworkers and SOHO environments, unified messaging through Microsoft Outlook, and cost savings through toll bypass.

The standards-based DIVA architecture is at the heart of the system. It distributes call handling intelligence across multiple local or remote locations, rather than centralizing it at the network core. DIVA gives companies an approach to building an IP voice system that has no single point of failure. DIVA enables users to deploy a Shoreline system across local and multiple remote sites, yet still manage all distributed resources as a single, integrated IP voice communications system.

Release 2.0 includes two new network voice switches - the ShoreGear-24 for the growing enterprise and the ShoreGear-Teleworker for employees of the extended enterprise. The new release also includes ShoreWare 2.0 software, residing on an NT server platform, for such services as voice mail, automated attendant, and call detail recording.
