Amdahl, Rational Partner for Application Monitoring

Amdahl Global Solutions, a division of Amdahl Corp. (
www.amdahl.com), and Rational Software Corp. (
www.rational.com) plan to provide monitoring software for applications such as e-commerce and SAP R/3. The companies signed an agreement today that combines Amdahl's EnView application performance monitoring system and Rational's PerformanceStudio load testing product. The combined product will provide the ability to plan, test and continuously monitor distributed client/server and Web-based applications.
EnView is a family of software products that enables IT organizations to monitor the end-to-end response and availability of business applications without regard for other technology components that impact service. It offers efficient reporting with real-time visual displays, audible alarms and historical and trend reporting.
PerformanceStudio integrates functional and load testing to test system performance, and includes other Rational technologies such as DataSmart Recording, ClientSmart Pacing, LoadSmart Scheduling and ServerSmart Playback. -- Brian Ploskina, Assistant Editor
